As part of the continuing efforts of the Government to improve and facilitate the procedures for doing business in Egypt, the Minister of Finance issued Decree No. 360 of 2010 (published in the Egyptian Gazette on June 2nd, 2010 and made effective as of the same day) allowing social security payments by companies over their employees to be made at various administrative offices accredited by the Social Security Authority.
This in effect means that it may in the future be possible for companies to make their social security payments through offices of various government agencies - such as perhaps the Investment Authority or the Tax Authority - instead of making those payments through the Social Security offices, thus providing easier access.
It is a welcome step but remains to be seen in application.
